Who we are

Automation School is a fully funded monthly event run by Kelsey Brown. Our contact email is hello@automationschool.co.uk.

What data we collect

We collect the following personal data when you interact with us:

• Name— provided when you register for a session.
• Email address — provided when you register, RSVP, check in, or contact us.
• Phone number — optionally provided during registration.
• Business name — provided during registration.
• Your question about AI and automation — optionally provided during registration.
• Attendance records — which sessions you attend and how many.
• Recording consent preference — your choice about appearing in session recordings.
• Automation platform credentials — a username and auto-generated password created for your automation platform account.

Why we collect it

We use your data for the following purposes:

• Registration — to register you for sessions and manage seat availability.
• Check-in— to check you in when you arrive at an event.
• Communications — to send you confirmation emails, session reminders, post-event follow-ups, and occasional updates about Automation School.
• Platform access — to create and manage your automation platform account so you can follow along during sessions and practise between events.
• Community— to invite you to our WhatsApp community after your first session and keep you informed about upcoming events.

Our lawful basis for processing your data under UK GDPR is legitimate interest (providing the service you signed up for) and, where applicable, your explicit consent (for recording preferences and communications).

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored and processed using trusted third-party services for website hosting, member management, email delivery, and our automation learning platform. We select providers that handle data responsibly and in line with applicable data protection standards.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties beyond those we use to operate Automation School. Data may be transferred outside the UK where our providers operate servers internationally, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Recording consent

Sessions may be recorded for educational replays and promotional content. During check-in at each event, you are asked to choose one of two options:

• Happy to appear in recordings — you consent to being included in any recordings made during the session.
• I'd prefer to stay off camera — we will make reasonable efforts to keep you out of any published footage.

Your preference is recorded and can be changed at any future session or by contacting us directly.

Email communications

When you register for a session, you will receive transactional emails including your confirmation, session reminders, and post-event follow-ups. We may also send occasional updates about upcoming sessions and Automation School news.

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time by clicking that link or by emailing us at hello@automationschool.co.uk.

Data retention and deletion

We retain your personal data for as long as you remain subscribed to Automation School. Your data is kept until you unsubscribe or request its deletion.

You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing hello@automationschool.co.uk. We will delete your records from our systems and remove your automation platform account. Note that data already processed by third-party services (such as sent emails) cannot be recalled.

Your rights under UK GDPR

Under UK data protection law, you have the following rights:

• Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification — ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Right to erasure — ask us to delete your personal data.
• Right to object — object to the processing of your data for certain purposes.
• Right to data portability — request your data in a structured, commonly used format.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@automationschool.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Cookies

This website uses essential cookies only. These are necessary for the site to function correctly (for example, maintaining form state during submissions). We do not use analytics, tracking, or marketing cookies.
